Frozen!

Our friends from the Netherlands came over to Toronto to meet us. We took them to the Niagara Falls and around downtown Toronto. It was a good opportunity to see the falls once again. We were so curious what to expect because we were told that by now the falls must be covered with ice. When we left Toronto, though it was cold but the sun was out. However, when we approached the Niagara area it was gloomy and it was quite windy. Parking was not a problem at all.

As we walked down to the falls area, we started to feel the cold. Oh! the landscape was amazing. It was completely different from the last time we were there last December. The pavements were full of piled snow. We were in awe seeing the falls frozen. Where have all the water gone? Looking around, we just see snow and ice. Even the light posts and railings were covered with snow. Check out my photo album (Niagara Falls and Toronto). The Canadian side of the falls is far more spectacular than the U.S. side. As we were closing in the horseshoe, it felt like it was raining and it was so hazy due to the mist. It was really a great experience. In as much as we wanted to stay longer there but the temperature was drastically dropping and it became so cold so we decided to leave. We were trying to figure out where we were going next indoor. I managed to get hold of a leaflet 'Niagara Outlet Mall'.So quickly, we have agreed to go shopping. There we spent the afternoon then before dark we drove back to Toronto.

On a Sunday, we went to the Chinese lunch buffet at Mandarin in Brampton. We were there once with some friends and we liked the place so much. Well, as expected we left the place with heavy stomach. We decided to go for a walk at The Beach area. Unfortunately, the weather was not at all conducive to our planned outdoor activity. Not long enough, we had to take refuge inside the car. It was unbearable!

On Monday, we explored a huge area of downtown Toronto. We started at the Harbour Front, then went down to the vast underground shopping complex (the Concourse or the PATH). We walked up north until we reached the Nathan Philipps Square, then to the Municipal Hall, walking westwards to the China Town. Thereafter, we walked further west to the Kensington Market. There we found quite a number of organic shops. We got some stuff and then proceed to the Little Italy. Well, we didn't really find anything interesting in this place so we decided to head back but walking was impossible. So, we just took a street car and get-off at the Union Station.

Check-out my photo album during this trip 'Niagara Falls and Toronto'. Pictures say a thousand words.Enjoy!
